Exmissions: Continuing the Journey

At L’Atelier, we are aware that choosing the right school for your child and surviving the testing and application process can be very stressful. Accordingly, we take exmissions very seriously.

Historically, approximately 90% of our graduates have been admitted to the school of their first choice, including:

Lycée Français de New York
Dalton School
Ethical Culture Fieldston School
Rye Country Day School
Marymount School of New York
Horace Mann School
Trinity School
Speyer Legacy School
The Gifted and Talented and Bilingual programs at P.S. 9, P.S. 84, P.S. 87, and P.S. 452

We have over a decade of experience providing support, advice and guidance to help you through this challenging transition.

While continuing your child’s education at a traditional French language school may seem like the logical next step, we are proud of the fact that our program prepares students to succeed in a multitude of environments, and many do go on to English-language schools. Studies have shown that the benefits of early childhood bilingualism extend far beyond the value of the second language itself. Constructing knowledge in two languages has been found to significantly improve broad-ranging cognitive skills related to the brain’s executive function, such as planning, adaptation, problem and puzzle solving, and mental reaction speed (Bialystok & Martin, 2004; Carlson & Meltzoff, 2008; Kovacs & Mehler, 2009; New York Times, March 18, 2012). Bilingualism is always a plus in the admissions process. Further, we have found that our combination of academics and creative expression builds the skills our graduates need to be immediately comfortable in the settings of their subsequent schools, whether they be academically concentrated or more free-flowing.

As always, if you have any questions about L’Atelier’s exmissions policy, please feel free to contact us at latelierny@gmail.com.
